Eye veteran receives special recognition after more than 60 years in the AA Published: 05:00, 09 April 2021
A 96-year-old Second World War veteran has been granted lifelong AA membership and a special heritage-style badge, having been a member for most of his adult life.
Alan King, from Eye, served with the East Riding Yeomanry as a radio operator in a Sherman tank during the D-Day landings. He had been a member of the AA since 1959.
Mr Kingâs daughter, Joyce Cooper, contacted the motoring organisation to see if they would consider making him a gesture ahead of his 97th birthday.
Mr King joined the AA in 1959.
