The council supported the new proposals after signaling it would move forward earlier this month despite a lawsuit between the Auburn Water District and city of Lewiston.
The long-held standard in Auburn's agricultural zone requires a landowner to make a certain percentage of household income from farming to be eligible to build a home.
The city will use the time to schedule more informational sessions on how the new zoning type will impact neighborhoods surrounding the Court Street area.
