Beijing's Miyun district rolls out spring tours

Northeastern Beijing s Miyun [Photo provided to China Daily] Northeastern Beijing s Miyun district has launched themed routes revolving around blossom, gourmet food, homestay and folk culture. The district is steeped in blossoms in spring. One can enjoy peach and apricot blossoms, as well as azaleas in its Beijing Wtown, Yunmeng Mountain, Qingliang Valley and Heilongtan. Pear blossoms can be found at the district s Bulaotun and Mujiayu townships. Cherry blossoms are available in Jinpoluo village and Mujiayu township. As for food, one can t miss the millet, buckwheat and chestnut banquets at Xiwengzhuang, and all-chicken feast at Mujiayu. Miyun has vigorously promoted the construction of culture and tourism villages and folk homestays over the years to upgrade rural tourism. It has now developed over 100 brands and 260 quality courtyards.

Zhao Yun checked into a rural homestay with a couple of friends in northeastern Beijing s Miyun district during the seven-day holiday. It was my first time spending the festival away from home, says the 29-year-old Beijing resident, who s originally from East China s Anhui province.

Cultural capital Share CLOSE Tourists learn kite-making while visiting Beijing Wtown in the capital s Miyun district.[Photo provided to China Daily] Beijing authorities have accredited 16 attractions in the city as destinations with outstanding folk appeal, Yang Feiyue reports.  The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism designated 16 destinations in the capital as cultural-tourism models in late December. They were selected according to their vitality, innovation and market influence. The move is intended to integrate Beijing s cultural resources with tourism demand, and offer diverse and customized travel experiences. A total of 100 such models in the capital will be accredited in the future, according to the bureau.
