ISLAMABAD: Twenty more people died in countrywide monsoon rains in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 97 and the injured to 101 since the onset of the season.The National Disaster.
MUZAFFARGARH: Three people died allegedly after drinking tainted liquor here in Behari Colony on Sunday.
As per police, three friends – Sabir Hussain, Koura Khan and Parvaiz Khan – drank liquor that was tainted. As a result, Sabir died on the spot, while Khan and Parvaiz fell unconscious and were shifted in critical condition to the district headquarters hospital for treatment where they too expired.
Police sources said they had bought the tainted liquor from a notorious bootlegger operating in the city area, known as Machhar.
City police have started investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, the families of the deceased men appealed to the district police officer to order action against the bootleggers to avert such incidents in future.
