Michigan Lottery recognizes Bay City teacher with excellence award, cash prize

BAY CITY, MI - The Michigan Lottery has recognized a Bay City Public Schools teacher of 22 years with an “Excellence in Education” award, according to a news release.
Darci Merillat, a science teacher at Bay City Western Middle School, will receive a plaque, $1,500 in cash and a $500 grant for her classroom, school or district for winning the weekly honor, judged on excellence, dedication, inspiration, leadership and effectiveness. She’s also in the running for the lottery’s Educator of the Year award, which confers a $10,000 cash prize.
