evidence supports sedition charges for at least some of the suspects involved. seems like a very low bar and i wonder why you re not charging that now. i don t think it s a low bar but i personally believe the evidence is trending toward that and probably meets those elements. do you anticipate sedition charges against some of these suspects? i believe the facts do support those charges. and i think that as we go forward more facts will support that. erin blake today adds this context to the significance of potential sedition in the washington post. it s been more than a decade since the federal government brought sedition charges, the last time in 2010 against members of a christian militia in michigan accused of plotting to rise up against the government. the judgedy missed the charges in 2012 finding that the government failed to prove the group had firm plans to launch attacks. the last successful federal sedition prosecution came 26 years ago when the so-call
