LOWVILLE — The leaves are changing color and the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce is providing the opportunity see the autumn splendor while visiting local businesses along the way.

Heavy rainfall is occurring with these storms and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect in Oneida County until 2 AM Wednesday.

Flash flooding causes more deaths than any other severe weather-related hazard, according to the National Weather Serice. Most deaths happen when people try and drive through flooded roads and are swept away. Do not drive or walk through flooded areas. It only takes 6 inches of water to knock you off your feet or sweep away your car.
By belonging to an ATV club with an active Lewis County Trail Agreement, participants are eligible for a $20 season permit discount. In addition, club membership provides fellowship and organized events in which to participate.

The annual Lewis County OHV â off highway vehicle â permit is $65 for the first OHV, with a $20 discount with membership in a local OHV Club with an active Trail Agreement Club membership.

That means Watertownâs snowfall was 28 inches, more than 2 feet, below what the region usually sees in a winter season.
In Lowville, the total is off by 27 inches. During a normal winter, the community sees 113.6 inches of accumulation.
