He was publisher of The Chicago Sun-Times, where he was also its top editor, and New York’s Daily News. He was later editor of the headier Foreign Affairs magazine.
As a correspondent, including as a bureau chief, he wrote vividly from all corners of the globe. He later served as foreign editor and assistant managing editor.
