4 fishers reported missing in Cebu

CEBU CITY – Four fishermen went missing while fishing in the sea of Kinatarcan Island in Sta. Fe town, northern Cebu province on Friday, Dec. 23.
They were identified as Gilbert Pepito, 37; Gaspar Yassi, 45; Louie Lubitos, 34, and Redol Yassi, 42.

Lapu-Lapu City Covid-19 cases 'under control'


THE increasing new cases of Covid-19 in Lapu-Lapu City is not a cause for alarm.
Grace Mary Chan Carungay, city epidemiological and surveillance unit (Cesu) officer, gave this assurance on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021.“We are a bit worried because the cases increased, but the situation is still under control,” she said.
Double digits
Lapu-Lapu City’s new Covid-19 cases reached double digits on Jan. 19, 2021 with 14 infections, according to Carungay, sister of Mayor Junard Chan.
Based on the data from the Cesu, Lapu-Lapu City registered a total of 94 active cases last Jan. 19.
Barangay Basak has the most number of active cases with 22. ....

SEVEN people perished during the onslaught of tropical depression Vicky, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020.
Two fatalities were from Eastern Visayas (Region 8) while five were from Caraga (Region 13).
The PNP said one individual from Eastern Visayas was injured while two people from Davao region and Caraga were reported missing.
Agusan del Sur Gov. Santiago Cane, in a radio interview, said three persons drowned while trying to cross a river in San Francisco town. ....
