Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen has made an appeal to the international community to work sincerely instead of giving lip service to repatriation talks for the Rohingyas. There are 1.1 million Rohingyas in the camps of Bangladesh and majority of them are girls and women. It is time for us, the world leaders…we must come forward to repatriate them and reintegrate them in Rakhine and give them a future, he said.
The minister was addressing an International Women s Day event titled Women in Diplomacy: How are We Doing? as chief guest. It was organised by the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Bangladesh (DCAB) with support of the Bangabandhu Research Centre for Foreign Policy and Diplomacy at the Foreign Service Academy today.

Bangladesh wants to move fast in a coordinated way to explore opportunities in contract farming , especially taking advantage of farming in the Middle East and greater African landscape, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said today. I know that countries like Gambia, Sierra Leone, and the stretches of both the Maghreb and the Sub-Saharan Africa might be fertile areas to explore possibilities in this regard, he said at a lecture on Contract Farming and Job Opportunity for Bangladesh Abroad held at Bangabandhu Research Centre for Foreign Policy and Diplomacy (Foreign Service Academy).

DHAKA, Jan 20, 2021 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen today said Bangladesh has started actively considering various farming options in Middle East (ME) and African countries utilizing different bilateral and multilateral channels, especially the platform of OIC.
“Bangladesh through the platform of Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) can take some projects in African region for cultivating crops,” he said.
The foreign minister was speaking at a function marking a lecture on “Contract Farming and Job Opportunity for Bangladesh Abroad” organized by Bangabandhu Research Centre for Foreign Policy and Diplomacy at Foreign Service Academy in the capital.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Wednesday said the government has been searching for various farming options in the Middle East and African countries for long, utilising various bilateral and multilateral channels.
“Almost a decade has elapsed since the government of Bangladesh commenced initiatives for leasing agricultural land from African countries,” he said.
The minister was addressing a programme titled ‘Contract Farming and Job Opportunity Abroad for Bangladesh’ at Foreign Service Academy in the capital.
