antibodies, another treatment, when they apply for emergency use authorization, it took about six weeks for the fda to do the review for that. that gives you a bit of a ballpark idea. boris? some good news and a lot to look out for. elizabeth cohen, thank you. joining us is dr. paul offit, a member of the fda vaccine advisory committee and the director of the vaccine education center at the children s hospital of philadelphia. always a pleasure having you on and getting your insight. let s start with merck seeking emergency use authorization for that oral antiviral drug. how does it work? who is is it designed for? how much of a game changer do you think it will be? it prevents the virus from reproducing itself, and that s certainly an advantage. it s about 50% effective at preventing hospitalization. remember, the vaccine is virtually 99% effective at preventing hospitalization, so an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. you d much rather prevent
of this operation. we have we have texas task force one, we have state assets regional assets from all over texas helping us out in this event. yes, sir? [ inaudible ] that is always an issue we have to deal. we have some that are not in shelters that we are searching for on the ground right now that are missing. ballpark idea of how many people fall into the general category of upnaccounted for? right now at least three. no fatalities at this point? at this very moment we are still looking for missing persons. it is hard for me to nail that down cause there s the information that we get, by the time it gets to us it has been scrubbed two or three times.
