First looks at the project for the public appeared at the Newport Beach Board of Library Trustees meeting in January. Residents raised concerns then and at Tuesday night's meeting about the removal of two trees.
The tree is adjacent to the Balboa Branch Library and is a known location for great blue herons to nest. Plans for a library and fire station update don't include it, raising concerns for residents and environmentalists.
