Its often told is a very uplifting and romantic story where immigrants become americans. Not many of us know the history of immigration through angel island. This is in San Francisco. Its an important site for not only what happens back then in the early 20 century, because it is timely today. When we kick up any newspaper we see headlines like this. Does anyone know what some of these headlines are referring to . Right. This would halt their deportation. This is a controversial action right now. They believe that this executive action exceeds the president s of authority. We know that this is just the latest in our nations immigration debate. There doesnt seem to be an end in sight. Damage in the way it was supposed to. A tanker ship hits the bay bridge. The damage to the hull and tower and how it happened. A whole new meaning to lunchtime rush. The coast guard will be out first thing in the morning checking worthiness of the tanker that hit the bay bridge. It hit echo tower the tower west of the island. Linda yee is on Treasure Island. That tanker just unloaded its cargo of fuel in martinez and then anchored off south of the bay bridge in the bay to wait for possible new cargo. Tower on the San Francisco bridge. The coast guard reports no oil spill resulted. Weve learned the tanker had already been unloaded. And caltrans says there was no major damage to the bridge. It remained open to travel traffic. We have continuing coverage now from heather holmes. Shes live at Treasure Island with what shes learned about the bar pilot guiding that tanker and the scrutiny hes now facing. Reporter hes been a bar pilot since 2005. Prior to that he worked for several years on oil tankers for exxon. But today while guiding that vessel. The overseas raymar this experienced mainer sideswiped the tower of the bridge. Look at the top left side of this picture. That is a piece of the bridge barrier stuck to the side of the ships hull.
