A former deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is facing charges of perjury and battery stemming from his account of a January 2020 arrest of a woman he accused of battery, records show.

CRUISE WAS WITH THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE FOR A LITTLE LESS THAN THREE YEARS, BUT TWICE HE WAS CR WAS A DEPUTY, HE RESPONDED TO A REPORT OF A MAN HITTING PEOPLE IN ORLANDO. HE WOUND UP ARRESTING A WOMAN WHO AT THE TIME WAS ACCUSED OF NATTERING ON A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF BATTERY ON A LAW-ENFORCEMENT AREA. WHAT HE WROTE ON HIS REPORT DID NOT CORRESPOND WITH WHAT COULD BE SEEN ON HIS BODY CAMERA VIDEO. SHE WAS ACTUALLY HURT WHILE BEING TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. IN 2019, HE WAS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED FOR TWO WEEKS AFTER HE TASED A MAN. THE MAN BEING TASED WAS CHARGED FOR RESISTING AN
