More on Morecambe - Ipswich Town News

More on Morecambe Monday, 11th Dec 2000 10:23 As reported last night it seems increasingly as if Morecambe are wanting to lay their game at their Christie Park ground. According to their official website (http://www.morecambefc.com) the ground has a capacity of 6,200 consisting of: 1100 spectators seated, another 4,300 under cover and open terracing for a further 800 spectators. A bit of quick maths suggests that we, described as Premiership giants, Ipswich Town (a first?), will get 930 seats, which will probably be enough to satisfy all the Away Match Passport holders wanting to make the trip, but no-one else. Match of the Day viewers will have seen that Morecambe have more than a few famous fans. Attending the 2-1 victory over Cambridge was Eric Morecambe s cousin Wiggy while we have learnt that their Honorary Club President is none other than Jim Bowen.
