pitch their closing messages to voters. we ll have a slew of new polling numbers to see what, if anything, is getting through. also ahead, this week s jobless claims are in. what the new numbers on of the of another interest rate hike tell us about the state of our economy. professor eddie glaude jr. and jonathan lemire are with us. and joining us, nbc news national political reporter marc caputo and republican strategist and nbc news political analyst susan del percio. it s good to have you with us this hor hour. we have new polling out this morning. a hotly contested senate race in pennsylvania, the latest emerson college the hill survey finds mehmet oz with a two-point lead over john fetterman, within the poll s 3% margin of error. 4% remain undecided. let s keep it in pennsylvania. another new poll shows last week s debate between fetterman and oz appears to have had very little impact in minds of voters. 48% of voters telling monmouth university they will definitely
so-called, trigger laws. and the next 30 days or so sick states would similar laws on the books are likely to join them. and within the coming weeks and months, six more states are expected to issue new bans on all or most abortions. meanwhile, abortion will remain legal and protected in 20 other states and washington d.c.. that means abortion access is pretty much decided in 40 states. that leaves us with ten states. shown in the gray on this map. they represent tens of millions of americans literally living in a gray area. in those states access to a safe and legal abortion will likely hang in the balance based on a few external factors like which political party gains control in the midterm elections. that is the case in michigan. which is not a law that criminalized abortion back in 1931. that law was superseded by roe in 1973. now michigan s governor, gretchen whitmer, has promised to quote fight like hell to prevent it from going back into place. here she is speaking ex

Fewer people will actually pay tax at that rate. Now, let me tell you what else they want to do. They want to nearly double the standard deduction. 12,000 for individuals. 24,000 for married couples. Thats the justification for raising the lowest tax rate from 10 to 12 that a whole lot of people arent actually going to pay for. The plan also calls for the elimination of the socalled marriage penalty. Raising the tax credit for a child under 17 by a yet to be specified amount. And look for a new 500 tax credit for nonchild dependents. That replaces the idea that you can actually otherwise claim nonchild dependents. In addition, the plan calls for repealing the estate tax. What a lot of republicans call the death tax. This benefits generally speaking the wealthy. It also repeals the Alternative Minimum Tax. At lot of you might say i pay the Alternative Minimum Tax. Heres the problem. It was actually meant to be something for the wealthy. Wasnt indexed to inflation so a
number of people i
