Carver steps up search process for permanent TA

CARVER – A seven-member town administrator screening committee will help with the search for a permanent replacement. The Select Board will invite all 16 applicants interested in serving on the screening committee to a meeting at 6 p.m. next Tuesday, May 25, for five-minute interviews. With the goal of selecting the best candidate, the Select Board decided on the number of committee members and the composition of the committee Tuesday night. The votes were unanimous, 5-0. The board also voted to exclude three residents who missed the deadline to apply. The names of the 16 applicants were to be submitted to the Select Board Wednesday morning for its first look at the list. The charge of the committee will be decided at a subsequent meeting.

Letters to The Swampscott Reporter editor

Letters to The Swampscott Reporter editor Wicked Local I am grateful for the support of the many Swampscott voters on Tuesday. My message to residents was to provide impartiality, fairness and inclusiveness when making appointments to the Swampscott Finance Committee, Swampscott Capital Improvement Committee and other important Town Meeting committees.  I am energized by the experience and intend to stay committed to preserving the wonderful community we share. As some might imagine, this election spoke loudly and hopefully all have ears to hear. I, myself, find comfort standing in the middle and inviting those standing on either edge to join me in the middle. Please Swampscott, Let us unite rather than continue to divide.

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript - Major turnover among Bennington staff

Monadnock Ledger-Transcript Published: 4/28/2021 4:31:53 PM Bennington is facing significant municipal staff turnover after the Select Board opted to replace Town Administrator Kristie LaPlante and Road Agent Hazen Fisk earlier this month. Additionally, Deputy Town Administrator and Tax Collector Dee French is resigning as of May 31, and the Select Board is also exploring a merged police department after Police Chief Bret Sullivan announced his intent to retire. “The town is moving in a new direction,” Select Board Chair James Cleary said of the two dismissals when asked about them at a Select Board meeting Tuesday night. He did not provide further reason for either dismissal. The town has already replaced the Road Agent by promoting an existing Highway Department employee, Cleary said, and promoted Administrative Assistant Deb Davidson to interim Town Administrator. A new Assistant Town Administrator starts in June, he said. “Things are moving along very well,” he said.
