hello everyone. thank you for joining me. i m fredicka whitfield. we begin with breaking news. dangerous flooding in the nashville area that has killed four people and left dozens more in need of rescue. some homes were damaged as rivers and creeks overflowed their banks after record rainfall. nashville s fire department says it has helped rescue at least 130 people so far. cnn s martin savage joining me live from nashville with more on this. what have you been seeing, martin? reporter: fred, it s been a very long night for the swift water rescue teams that had been working in a lot of neighborhoods. this neighborhood is located to the south of nashville. flash flooding is some of the most treacherous. the water very powerful. this shed came from someone s back yard and has deposited here in the road. this whole area was under water at some point, roughly maybe three feet of water or more ended up in people s homes. most of the homes here are single story. you can see more

lots to cover. joining us now, nbc news correspondent, former fbi special agent in charge and jim cavanaugh and georgia state representative. great to have all three of you with us. what do we know about the victims and how did law enforcement catch and identify the suspect so quickly? well, ayman, it really is a painful day here in atlanta in the wake of this massive shooting spree. we know eight people were killed. six of the victims were of asian descent. one person was also injured. this took place in about an hour or so yesterday around the 5:00 hour. initially, the first shooting location was in the cherokee county area of georgia, about 45 minutes from where we are right now. officials have just released some of the victims names. they include delaina ashley yaun, 33 years old, paul andre michels, 54, xiaojie yan, 49 and daoyuo feng, 44. they range in age from 54 to 33. how were they able to capture the suspect so quickly? apparently his parents alerted officials
