New CBS mock draft gives the Chiefs a first-round linebacker
In the first round, Ryan Wilson projects a Notre Dame linebacker/safety to Kansas City.
On Monday,
CBS Sports analyst Ryan Wilson published a two-round mock draft that has the Washington Football Team trade into the eighth spot to take quarterback Trey Lance.
In Wilson’s estimation, offensive tackle prospects Penei Sewell, Rashawn Slater, Christian Darrisaw, Teven Jenkins and Samuel Cosmi are off the board by the 25th pick, while EDGE prospects Zaven Collins, Jalen Phillips, Azeez Ojulari, Kwity Payne Gregory Rousseau, Jayson Oweh and Carlos Basham Jr. are gone by the 27th pick.

NFL free agency began one month ago Monday, when the league’s legal tampering period began. While the free agency period is generally thought to extend only through the NFL Draft, it actually extends throughout the league year; it’s just that free agent players signed
after the draft don’t count in the compensatory draft picks formula for the following season.
So while free agent signings across the league have now slowed to a trickle, it’s still possible even likely that the Kansas City Chiefs will sign more of them.
