Criminals 'posing as cyber security experts' as number of firms rises

The number of cyber security businesses has grown 21 per cent since the virus reached the UK. Matt Horan, security director at Poole-based C3IA Solutions, says some criminals are posing as security experts to gain access to businesses’ systems. Mr Horan, whose business was among the first six to be certified by the National Cyber Security Centre, said: “It is good news that more businesses are identifying cyber security as something they need to improve. We’ve been banging that drum for some years, but it is having so many people working from home that has led employers doing something to protect their information.

Women needed in cyber security sector | Bournemouth Echo

Lucy Dalley and Matt Horan of C3IA Solutions CYBER security experts are urging more women to join the sector as the industry grapples with a shortage of qualified staff. Poole-based C3IA Solutions – which recently appointed graduate Lucy Dalley as its newest consultant – says lockdowns have increased the need for good staff. C3IA says the idea of tech often puts women off careers in the industry, but the sector requires a host of skills. Only 20 per cent of staff in the industry are women, but the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is trying to change that. Ms Dalley, originally from Southampton, earned a first class degree in cyber security management from Bournemouth University.
