We begin with the big announcement from the white house. Within the past hour, President Biden unveiled his new strategy to get covid under control. Its a six Point Plan getting everyone vaccinated is number one. Further protecting those who are vaccinated, keeping schools open, increasing tests and requiring masks, protecting our economic recovery and making sure those who do get covid have the medical care they need. Lets talk about some of the finer points to meet those goals. The president says companies with 100 or more people must require the employees to get a vaccine or undergo weekly testing. All federal workers must get vaccinated with no option to opt out. He is also calling on states to require shots for teachers and school staff. The path ahead, even with the Delta Variant, is not nearly as bad

So how do you fight a new fire when firefighters can barely handle what theyre doing . Its a tough but very real question that Cal Fire is facing with so many firefighters stretched thin. Thousands are in the sierra this long weekend, most of them there to battle the Caldor Fire burning near lake tahoe. But this time a new fire broke out in the sierra foothills near auburn called the Bridge Fire. 500 people evacuated because of it. There is some good news from the front lines on both the fires. Tonight we start in the Tahoe Basin where some evacuees are finally being told that they can go home, while others sadly are finding out they have no place to go. Melissa gord is outside tahoe just off highway 50. Reporter there is still an Evacuation Order in place for echo lake. The stretch of highway 50 nearest here
And marcus this morning. Lanes of eastbound 80 are open after a Wrongway Driver collided with incoming traffic killing one person near the 580 interchange. Calls came in about a Wrongway Driver Crashing Head on into cars. One person was arrested an an investigation is under way. Developing right now caldor Fire R Cal fire counts 18 wildfires burning across the state. You can see it here on your screen some of the most notable ones, the Dixie Fire and the Caldor Fire. This morning there are concerns over a new wildfire prompting Evacuation Orders in auburn. This is the Bridge Fire that started under the Foresthill Bridge in the auburn state recreation area. This quickly grew to 250 acres triggering an Evacuation Order for about 500 people. Evacuation warnings have been issued for more people there. Right now the fire is still burning out of control. No reports yet of homes being destroyed. Well hope that it stays that way. A lot of people in Lake Tahoe are settling in after a wild week
