Area DA expects surge of court activity when pandemic ebbs FacebookTwitterEmail SCHENECTADY - Schenectady County District Attorney Robert Carney is bracing for what promises to be a busy period for trials at the county courthouse once the pandemic subsides. In a memo last month to county officials, Carney said his office has at least 120 pending indictments, many of them charging violent crimes. He said currently there are 10 murder indictments. I will be in need of experienced help once the pandemic is over and we will be inundated with trials, Carney wrote to the county in seeking approval of the staffing changes that include promoting John Carson, a veteran prosecutor to lead the special victims bureau, and hiring two new deputy assistant district attorneys. ....
