He said he was among the last American troops to leave Vietnam and brought home with him the flag that kept him company during combat. Military records show the flag-bearing Army veteran, Sgt. Michael Thomas Greenawalt, was in fact stationed in Germany, working as a desk clerk during the Vietnam War.
Col. (Ret.) Paul J. Hettich of Antioch was inducted into the 2022 class of the U.S. Army ROTC National Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony was conducted at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 10.
