University of Guam celebrates Charter Day virtually

The University of Guam s Charter Day is usually filled with thousands of people at the Mangilao campus, but this year was virtual, due to COVID-19. A virtual ceremony was held over Zoom Tuesday for the 53rd Annual Charter Day, with more than 300 participants on the call. UOG President Thomas Krise said the pandemic helped the university accelerate some of its goals of its Para Hulo , including promoting online learning and improvement of operations. All of our Tritons have worked hard really hard to help the community cope with the pandemic and the economic fallout, he said. UOG will host various virtual events through March showcasing the university s work under the theme Transforming Lives, Advancing Communities.
