Richard Barnett, man who put his feet on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk during US Capitol Building insurrection, released from jail pending trial MassLive.com 4/28/2021 Heather Morrison, masslive.com
Richard Barnett became well known after a photo of him putting his feet on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s desk during U.S. Capitol Building insurrection surfaced. But a judge this week determined he is not dangerous enough to stay in jail as he awaits trial.
Instead, Barnett will be released and will be under a GPS monitor in Arkansas, CNN reported.
The chief judge of the D.C. District Court said Barnett needed to stay in jail shortly after the riot, the news station reported. However, defendants who were not accused of assault or planning an attack have mostly been released while the wait for trail, according to CNN.
