CNN Business, known as CNNMoney, is reportedly being internally investigated by AT&T’s WarnerMedia for the treatment of female employees in the “work environment.”
The investigation is said to be launched by CNN’s parent company AT&T after February’s “departure of Annalyn Kurtz, a senior editor in the roughly 60-person newsroom, two of the people said,” Business Insider reported. AT&T’s WarnerMedia absorbed CNN’s HR department in 2020.
“I’ve found there to be a lack of transparency in how to get promoted or how to appear on TV. I get the feeling the company wants to keep as many people as possible at a low pay grade or stay in a certain box and that has led to women not being supported,” a female staffer explained.

CNN Business is conducting an internal review into its workplace culture and treatment of female employees, a report said Tuesday.
The investigation, dubbed internally as a “work environment assessment,” is being conducted by human resources at CNN’s parent company, AT&T‘s WarnerMedia, Business Insider reported. It was sparked by the February departure of senior editor Annalyn Kurtz, three people with knowledge of the matter told the outlet.
CNN Business is investigating its internal culture and how it treats female staff, Insider reported Tuesday.
The probe is being called a “work environment assessment,” said three sources who spoke with Insider anonymously. Reportedly, human resources employees from WarnerMedia, the AT&T division that houses CNN, are conducting the investigation.
The probe is not specifically looking into any one person’s actions but rather the overall culture of the CNN unit, Insider reported.

CNN did not immediately respond to The Hill’s requests for comment and declined to speak to Insider about the matter.
The investigation began in response to the departure of CNN reporter Annalyn Kurtz, Insider said, who was senior editor for CNN Business until February, according to her LinkedIn profile. Kurtz is now an adjunct professor of journalism at New York University.
