NJ arts funding: Arts groups will get money in wake of COVID crisis

You re not the only one who s been anxiously awaiting a COVID relief check. Theaters, museums and other New Jersey arts institutions, faced with the daunting task of starting up again after a disastrous year, are about to get $15 million worth of needed help. A bill signed into law Thursday by Governor Phil Murphy S-3521 will provide $7.5 million in federal aid to for-profit arts organizations, to be disbursed through the state s Economic Development Authority. Another $7.5 million will be available to not-for-profit groups, through the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. All eligible groups will be invited to apply to the appropriate agency at some point in the near future: keep an eye on the two websites for further updates.
