Then 35, Chaput was pursuing a career as an engineer, building a house and planning a wedding. The diagnosis came as a huge shock and was accompanied by some denial, especially since the symptoms she experienced were tiredness and constantly feeling thirsty things she thought were byproducts of her hectic schedule.
