but not all scams come in the form a phone call. she says you re at risk anytime you give out any information. you re checking out in the line at a local store and they ask you for your e-mail address and your cell phone number those go out on their list and other people can tap in. frankly i don t think its something you need to give out to anyone if you re just buying a candle or some lotion or art supplies. these are things that you should keep to yourself so i just say no. there s one group that is targeted more than others. scammers tend to prey on the elderly. often times these seniors live alone, they are often lonely, they re isolated, they really just want someone to talk to and these scam artist are very skilled at what they do and they can say all the right things and kind of buildup sort of a trust. and when they build that trust, they start asking for money by family member in danger. the agency has a program which advocates for seniors in these situations,
