Children, families and shoppers gazed gleefully upon the troupe of lion dancers as the dancers pranced around Vancouver Mall’s Forever 21 Court on Saturday. The event was just one part of the mall’s celebration of Lunar New Year.
It was still dark outside when Black Friday shoppers began lining up outside the doors of Macy’s at Vancouver Mall. The store opened at 6 a.m., and about 12 people had lined up by then.
Leah Pickering, owner of Kazoodles toy store in Vancouver, placed an order for Christmas puzzles in May. On Tuesday, she found out that they might not arrive by Christmas.

Melissa Brewer of 4Ever Photography issued the verbal prompts and captured the moment. Families dressed in their Easter best queued up next to the elaborate garden set, complete with flowers, giant mushrooms and a white picket fence.
