Fears grow of new wave of COVID-19 infections

AMMAN As Eid Al Adha approaches, citizens and experts worry about a new wave of COVID-19 infections in the Kingdom.
Abdulrahman Aladwan, a Jordanian in his 20s, recalled how many citizens in the past Eid Al Fitr did not follow safety precautions or wear masks. A lot of people visited each other during eid and greeted each other while shaking hands and kissing, he told The Jordan Times.
Nada Hamad, a young Jordanian, said that people are getting bored . The vaccine guaranteed many citizens they would not catch the virus, which led them to also take fewer safety precautions, Hamad told The Jordan Times.
Amman Field Hospital to receive COVID patients soon Hayajneh

AMMAN The Amman Field Hospital built by the Ministry of Health near Prince Hamzah Hospital will soon be operational and start receiving COVID-19 patients, Health Ministry Secretary General Wael Hayajneh said on Saturday.
During a hospital tour of local and foreign journalists, Hayajneh said that the facility is fully equipped and includes an intensive care unit with oxygen supply tubing, and staffed with medical, nursing and administrative cadres in line with up-to-date international standards, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Mr Obeidat said
another field hospital was planned in Irbid and two more in the port city of Aqaba and the southern city of Maan.
The three planned hospitals will have a combined capacity of 766 beds.
The king invoked emergency legislation in March to deal with the coronavirus and last month authorities reimposed a curfew as the number of deaths rose sharply.
Officials say that the authorities are considering lifting the curfew imposed since early November, particularly a ban on movement all-day on Fridays.
On weekdays the curfew lasts from 10pm to 6am.
Mr Obeidat said the government was expected to receive one million Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses by the first quarter of 2021.
