Some minor topics from our federal education program. some of the things like niche things, like american history, studying the constitution. economic and financial literacy. but why? well, some of the programs they say are good. they re good. here is one explaining eliminating the we the people program that teaches about the constitution. the program has had a positive evaluation. yet center for civic education curricula and the material served just a small number of students. so don t expand it. the obama administration proposed elimination of the program in fiscal year 2010 budget because it s just too small to have any real impact on history and civic achievement nationally. they got rid of that. but i want you to know, the nea, the teachers unions do recommend some excellent reading that you can substitute. recommended reading.

Center for american not gress. the department of education supports numerous, small grant programs that serve niche purposes. many of the programs should be eliminated including the niche program, academy for american history in civics. okay, history is a niche program? we re global now. what else? the we the people program. why would you want to instruct anybody? constitution, bill of rights. who needs it? other recommendations are excellence in education. why promote financial literacy? we have people like barney frank and dodd telling us what to do with the finances. if everyone was economically literate, if we had civic education and knew the history, we might read the bills and elect entirely different people. if you are concerned, there is good news.
