RAWALPINDI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq on Saturday said though the prime minister had secured the vote of confidence from the National Assembly, he had largely lost the confidence of masses.
Addressing the party workers, he said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government multiplied the miseries of people in the first half of his tenure and the PM’s move to get the vote of confidence from the lower house was only a remedial attempt to put salve on the wounds inflicted on the PTI’s morale by the upset on the Islamabad Senate seat.
According to the law, he said, the prime minister did not require the practice. The government, he added, should adopt a serious attitude to address the basic problems of the country instead of indulging itself in unnecessary acts. LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq said the present and past governments had enslaved the nation to international financial institutions by crippling the economy.
“The same ruling elite representing the PTI and past ruling parties threw national integrity and economy at stake by borrowing huge money from the World Bank (WB) and IMF, not for national development but for luxurious living of state and bureaucracy, depriving the masses from basic needs and squeezing taxes from them to pay back,” he said while addressing a large public meeting at Company Bagh, Sargodha on Sunday in connection with JI’s public campaign for mobilising masses against rising corruption, bad governance, inflation and unemployment. ....

ISLAMABAD: No party would be able to get clear majority in the upcoming polls of 50 percent seats in Senate if elections are held on the existing numerical strength of the assemblies which are the constituents of the elections.
The ruling alliance under the PTI would be able to reach the mark of 48 which would be short of three members for constituting majority while five members with full house since four members will not return from erstwhile Fata constituencies due to merger of the area in KP. Well-placed parliamentary sources told The News Wednesday that the PTI would be able to reach mark of 26 in 104-member house where election on four seats of Fata will not take place due to no existence of constituencies. The PML-N which is currently having 30 seats in Senate but the polls in first quarter of next year would reduce its number and it would become equal with 2 ....
