STACY SQUIRES
Bex McLean and Darryl Norriss are running the mountain leg of Coast to Coast in memory of their father, Brent Norriss, who was killed by a distracted driver while riding his bike in February 2020.
Kiwi adventurers are putting their final preparations in place ahead of this weekend s KathmanduCoast to Coast, New Zealand’s toughest multi-sport competition. It is set to be the biggest turnout in the event’s 39-year history, with 1200 competitors racing the 243 kilometre course by running, cycling and kayaking from Kumara Beach on the South Island’s West Coast to Christchurch’s New Brighton beach. The race has long been a desire for Serena and Amber Shine, twins from Waiuku who have undertaken mind-boggling adventures around the world, including spending a month naked in the African wilderness for a Discovery Channel TV show.
