CHESAPEAKE — Planning and land use applications in Chesapeake will begin including lobbying disclosures in May. City Council member Robert Ike first made the disclosure request in January and council approved the new process in March. Ike proposed the city begin requiring the disclosure of all companies, firms and individuals hired to lobby City Council and the Planning Commission on land use .

"Requesting that owners and agents disclose individuals and firms lobbying on their behalf will bring transparency to the land use process," said Chesapeake City Council member Robert Ike, who made the request.
While seeking election to City Council last year, Amanda Newins was sued by her older aunt, who alleged Newins mistreated her and her late husband and stole hundreds of thousands of dollars in property and cash from them. The dispute was settled this year before a trial.
