i think you should be concerned because it s actually a one-two punch. before we get to joaquin, we have a good system with a lot of moisture. there s a cold front pushing. see the leading edge of it right there pushing to the east and as it does wringing out this moisture and in fact national weather service up and down the eastern seaboard, 19 million people under a flash flood watch or a flash flood warning as they are in southern virginia. so here s what we are looking at. next three days, before joaquin is involved, generally one to two inches but some areas up to three inches. especially up around the spine of the mountains there, the appalachians, the alleghenies and that lift and squeezes out more moisture. the latest on joaquin, this is getting interesting because there s a hurricanes hunters in there right now and we ll see if there is some strengthening. 425 miles east-northeast of bahamas. moving west at 5 miles per hour.

Inches of snowfall. it is higher than that. this is typical for today. we ll see in this four to eight or three to six inch range. and those roads are going to be very slippery. they re saying near kansas city that they are seeing lots of cars sliding off the roads there. we re seeing number of reports that the roads are very, very slick. kansas city, five to seven. poor visibility. drive carefully, if you will. but as the system moves further to the east, yeah, if you go to the aplatchens, the alleghenies, the poconos, you get elevation and you ll see more significant snowfall there. the track of the storm. area of low pressure moves across the ohio river valley and then moves towards the mid-atlantic. christi for washington, d.c., and new york, this is just a blip. for other folks further west, a little more significant than that. stay careful today. thank you so much. just a quick shoutout to new jersey powerball players.

Karen maginnis is track being the storm. coverage of snowfall across the ohio river valley is where it is expected to be the heaviest in places like st. louis, springfield, extending on over towards evansville, indiana. road conditions pretty treacherous. this area of low pressure has trekked all the way from the rockies into the central plains. the ohio valley. but then it kind of gives up a little bit of steam an another area of low pressure will make its way just off the mid-atlantic coast but still close enough to places like washington, d.c. and new york. looks like that s going to be a very short-term event with you in the meantime if you are traveling along some of the interstate that cut across some of the central plains, those roads fairly treacherous. st. louis, springfield, some pockets where 6 to 10 inches of snow likely in central indiana. but for those higher elevations, the alleghenies and poconos, the spine of the appalachians, you ll definitely see heavier amounts th
