we are glad it s over. i think i know why. there are so many voters in our primary. one, the people of tennessee to the governor how proud they are of his hard work, and i want to congratulate him. [applause] secondly, those who voted in the republican primary wanted to send a different redge, that we re not happy, that we re disappointed with the direction of our country, and we re hopeful of having a new republican majority in the nited states senate. there was another message in this primary tonight. in a large primary, in one of the most conservative states in the country, tennessee voters nominated a get it done republican governor and a get it done republican senator. let me tell you what i mean by that. what i mean is that both governor haslem and i are conservative republicans. both of us know when we finish our speech, we re not done. in fact, we ought to just be starting to work together with others and try to solve the problems that face our country. that s h
hello, i m bonnie erbe. welcome to to the contrary , a discussion of news and social trends from diverse perspectives. up first, flex time. are dads the new moms? we all know the answer is no, but there s some amazing new research showing men are using more flex time than we would have thought. a new report by the working mother research institute shows nearly eight out of ten men say they have flexible work schedules and nearly the same amount say they feel somewhat or very comfortable using flex time. this does not mean men are doing half the house or child care. labor department figures show on a typical day last year, almost half of women did housework, versus fewer than one in five of men. and in households with young children, women spent an hour each day caring for children, while men spent an average of 26 minutes. when it comes to parental leave, another report this year shows the majority of fathers take only about one day of leave time to bond with their new chil
