The Melton Building Society has appointed its first female chair of the board and signed the Women in Finance Charter.
Fiona Pollard has been on the board of the 146 year-old mutual since 2014 and was elected at the society’s AGM in April.
She is joined by two new non-executive directors, Judith Mortimer Sykes and Sue Douthwaite, making a total of three female out of seven board members.
Pollard succeeds Alan Craft who has been chairman for over seven years.
She had a ten-year career in investment banking, including at NatWest Markets & Goldman Sachs. ....

The Clock Tower in Wasilla reopened Saturday after a presumed sewer gas leak caused seven people in the building to seek treatment at a hospital the previous evening.
“We’re pretty certain that it was related to sewer gas. … Sewer gas may include hydrogen sulfide, ammonia and methane,” said Ken Barkley, director of emergency services for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
Barkley said the department first received a call at 6 p.m. Friday from someone feeling ill inside the building. The building was evacuated afterward, and Barkley said that by the time emergency services arrived, “everyone was already out.” ....
