spending will be subject to this freeze. these are tough times and we cannot keep spending like they are not. that is why we are seeking to reform our health insurance system because if we don t, soaring health care costs will eventually become the single largest driver of our federal deficits. reform legislation in the house and the senate would bring down deficits and i m looking forward to meeting with members of both parties, and both chambers next week to try to get this done. that is also why this year we are proposing a responsible budget that cuts what we don t need to pay for what we do. we proposed budget reductions and termination that s would yield $20 billion in savings. we re ending loopholes and tax give aways for oil and gas companies and for the wealthiest % of americans, so taken together, these and other steps would provide more than $1 trillion in deficit reduction, over the coming decades, more savings than any
