All the 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala that went to polls under the second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 have seen a drop in voter turnout when compared to 2019. A similar, but little better, picture was witnessed in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat too.
Home minister Amit Shah s constituency of Gandhinagar saw 59.8% polling, much less than 66.08% in 2019. The figure was 54.72% in Ahmedabad East against its 2019 percentage of 61.76. In Ahmedabad West, the trend was similar with 55.45% voting as against 60.8% in 2019. Cities of Jamnagar, Rajkot and Vadodara too showed downward trends. Agra s figure was 54.08%, against 59.12% in 2019.
Chennai, Bangalore, Ghaziabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra and Hyderabad have all witnessed a less than 60 per cent voter turnout in Lok Sabha Election 2024.
Baramulla, as of 11.30 pm on Monday, reported 58.17 per cent voter turnout, and the number may go further up with updation of data from the Election Commission of India.
Amid the rising temperatures, voters were queuing up at the booths taking the voting percentage to 24.35 in the first four hours of polling, said the election officials here on Tuesday.Banaskantha district led the voter participation with 30.27 .
