we went after afghanistan and 9/11 to make sure it would never become a safe haven for terrorism again. the way in which this chaotic withdrawal happened, it ensures that it is. now, it s once again the world s haven for terrorists. what we continue to do in the senate is continue to press for oversight. as a matter of fact we had a hearing in the armed services committee just this morning on this very topic. both the witnesses, the democrat and republican witnesses in front of the armed services laid out how this was a catastrophe. and we introduced it earlier this week, the afghanistan counterterrorism oversight legislation, which will be focused in the way in which we can, accountability has to come in the executive branch.
