Gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday attacked Iwollo Police Division in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State and razed the station.
The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr Mohammed Aliyu, who confirmed the attack to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said he was already on ground to ascertain the level of destruction and casualties.
“More information will be pushed out to the public as soon as we conclude our preliminary investigation,’’ he said.
However, an eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told NAN that the hoodlums attacked the division in their large numbers in the wee hours of the day.

At least four policemen were killed this week in various attacks on police stations in the South-eastern part of the country this week.
Several private and operational vehicles of the police were also destroyed and razed in the attacks.
The stations were also not spared as most of them were destroyed and razed down to ashes.

Gunmen on Wednesday shot two operatives dead during an attack on Adani Police Station in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, an official statement has confirmed.
The incident is contained in a statement issued in Enugu by the Spokesman of the state police command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe.
Ndukwe stated that the station “was violently attacked and set ablaze at about 2.30 am by yet-to-be-identified gunmen”.
He further stated that operatives on duty during the attack engaged the assailants in a gun battle, adding that some of them escaped with gunshot injuries.
