live, where you lively. this is abc7 news. as you enter the city of santa cruz, it s hard to miss the massive homeless encampment along highway one. tents as far as the eye can see. now the city and county are coming together the coming together to find a solutionity. from right here, you cannot see that massive homeless encampment, on the other side she a visible example of that homelessness issue, we are experiencing across the bay area. not the colorful scenery thats most it is reality praapproximately people have made their home here. it will not be one entity that will solve this challenge. reporter: one challenge is a new federal law that prevent the city from enforcing asleeping or camping ban without having enough sleeping space. the assistance is taylored to those leaving among the sea of tents. they are a microcasm of on the homeless population. there s no theme that emerged, they have the same demographics of the overall homeless ppulation. report
the grammys were downtown last night. who watched the grammys on tv last night? alicia keys was the host. she played two pianos at the same time. somewhere out there is a talented little girl who dreams of playing piano on the grammys, but she can t because alicia keys is hogging all the pianos. one per person. the big winners were casey mus graves and album of the year, an album is a round thing your parents used to buy. lady gaga won a grammy for a song that was featured in a film that included a scene of her winning a grammy for that song. it s like lady gaga inception. another weird thing is a nominee can wind up winning, like, five or six grammys a night, and then they have to hold them all. lady gaga had an arm full. kasey musgraves had a bunch. this is what i get when i forget to bring a reasonable bag to the market. they should have a bag at the grammys. nobody mentioned donald trump at the grammys. i m sure he had mixed feelings, but he did give himself an award. 50%
we have a lot to get to starting with an interesting bit of weather trivia. last week, you know in the midwest they had what they call a polar vortex. also known as cold. it was cold in the midwest. and this is interesting. according to the adult entertainment website pornhub, with which i assume none of you are familiar, during a polar vortex there was a big surge in viewing of their site across the midwest. they even put out a chart. you can see minnesota showed the biggest increase. [ laughter ] 22%. the only state that had a decrease was michigan. and they think that was just because kid rock was in malibu that week. [ laughter ] the largest spike in activity occurred between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., if case you re wondering what dad was up to while you were out building a snowman. he was watching on parka-on-parka porn. this is what happens when people are cooped up with no one to play with but themselves. we came up with a much more wholesome activity for
