3 Indy parks now have free WiFi

May 7, 2021 / 12:57 PM EST INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) Three Indianapolis parks now have public WiFi, according to Indy Parks & Recreation. Frederick Douglass Park, Municipal Gardens, and Riverside Park users can now access free internet. Users logging on for the first time will be prompted to accept a security certificate and liability waiver. Once that is finalized, users will be connected to the free network automatically. Funding from the Enhanced Access Review Committee made the WiFi available at the parks for one full year. Planning for continued costs of the network will be considered in the 2022 budget. According to Indy Parks & Recreation, more than 300,000 people visit the three parks annually. Providing the WiFi service for free will offer residents convenience and increase social equity in communities where access to the internet is limited.
