Gunmen Abduct Cleric, Son In Kwara, Demand N100Million Ransom

A cleric, Sofiu Amolegbe, and his son have been kidnapped by gunmen in the Oko-Olowo area of Ilorin, Kwara State. The incident occurred on Saturday.   This was confirmed by the spokesman for the state police command, SP Ajayi Okasanmi who added that two suspects have already been arrested in connection with the abduction. Okasanmi added that the police were working to rescue the victims. “Police are already investigating the matter. Efforts are also at an advanced stage to rescue the victims.

A man identified as Mr Lukman Aliyu, a resident of Aseyori community, Alagbado area of Kwara State has started selling his belongings to raise the N8 million demanded by gunmen who kidnapped his two children, Abdulkadir Lukman and Muhideen Lukman.       On Friday, SaharaReporters reported widespread panic in Kwara as a result of the daily reports of kidnappings in various areas of the state.      

Assistant Police Superintendent Abducted By Unknown Gunmen In Kwara Rescued

The Kwara State Police Command says the abducted Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Abdulmumini Yusuf has been rescued.   Yusuf, who is attached to the IGP Monitoring Team was on Monday kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ogidi community of Ilorin West Local Government Area.   However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Okasanmi Ajayi, in a statement on Sunday said the kidnap victim was rescued earlier in the morning in a bush bordering Kwara and Oyo states.  

Panic As Residents Of Kwara Communities Desert Homes Over Frequent Kidnap Attacks

There has been widespread panic in Kwara as a result of the daily reports of kidnappings in various areas in the state. Some residents of Alagbado, Ogidi, Okolowo, and others on the outskirts of Ilorin, the state capital, have reportedly fled their houses as a result of this development. These communities have been under intense attacks by suspected kidnappers in recent times.   SaharaReporters on Thursday reported that an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) identified as Abdulmumini Yusuf was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ogidi community.
