Announcement this morning standing right next to his soon to be former boss. I called the president this morning, i told him i thought the right thing was to step aside. Cabinet positions are temporary trust. It would be selfish for me to stay in this position and continue talking about a case thats 12 years old, rather than about the amazing economy we have right now. I submitted my resignation to the president effective seven days from today, earlier this morning. For his part, President Trump wanted everyone watching to know, acostas departure was not his idea.
