Roads in the park were closed to vehicles last May to provide more room for pedestrians and allow for physical distancing during the pandemic, while more parking lots were opened to accommodate people with mobility challenges. After council received feedback from accessibility groups and residents that was mostly critical of the closures, they reopened the park’s summit access road in November. The only roads that remain closed are Arbutus Way, which provides an entrance to the park from Southgate Road, and Chestnut Row and Bridgeway, both of which connect to Arbutus Way. Roads open to motor vehicles include Circle Drive, cutting through the park from Douglas Street to Dallas Road, Heywood Way, Nursery Road and the road to the summit. ....
