Stolen Firearms Update - ABC 10/CW5

Three of five firearms stolen from Harter’s Party Store in the Village of Calumet were recovered in a wooded are in the city of Houghton.
Deputies from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office and a Trooper from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post arrested a juvenile and a 17 year–old–male.
The arrests stemmed from two separate Breaking and Entering complaints that occurred this month at Harter’s Party Store.
The juvenile was turned over to his parents and the 17 year-old-male is lodged at the Houghton County Jail.

CALUMET–Robert “Bob” Ross Harter, 91, a resident of 8th Street in Calumet, passed away on Christmas Day at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium following a short illness.
He was born on January 27, 1929, in Calumet, a son of the late Hyacinth (Babe) and Flora Harter.
Bob graduated from Sacred Heart High School.
On June 25, 1949, he married the former Elizabeth “Bette” Tarvis in St. Johns Church in Calumet and she preceded him in death on June 16, 2015.
His early career was working for his father at Harter’s Party Store and the village of Calumet. He then went on to work for the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company. After that he spent a few years working for Clairmont Trucking in Escanaba. Then he left the Copper Country for a short time to work in Oklahoma for Transcon Trucking. He returned to Calumet to take over the Pontiac dealership (Harter Pontiac Buick) which he ran for 33 years. ....

Bethany Lutheran’s Faithful Innovations Thrivent Action Team supporting Copper Country Angel Mission Kid’s Winter Clothing Drive would like to thank Surplus Outlet and Harter’s Party Store for their generous donation of jackets, Tractor Supply for their donation of 10 pair of boots, Snyder’s Drug Store for their donation of several hats and mittens, the Dollar General manager of Lake Linden, who donated enough hats and gloves to keep five kids warm, Dollar General of Calumet for their donated hats and mitts for eight kids.
Erickson Feed & Seed donated 12 Tuff Mate mittens. Becky Spelich donated 18 pair of homemade mittens. Holiday of Hancock donated four pairs of girls’ gloves. We also received many, many anonymous donations of winter gear. ....
