Glasgow City Council questioned over uniform supply from Stirling

PUPILS at 14 schools across Glasgow do not have local access to branded uniforms and must order from a shop in Stirling it is claimed.
During a full council meeting Labour’s education spokeswoman councillor Aileen McKenzie asked the city convener, councillor Chris Cunningham, if he agreed that school uniforms should be reasonably prices and stocked locally.
Ms McKenzie asked: “Would the city convener also agree that it is not acceptable that during these restrictive times 14 schools across Glasgow can only buy school branded items from a shop in Stirling which is currently closed.
“They are only taking orders via the internet excluding families with no access to the internet and delivery taking over one month.” ....

Even Swindon Primary School not reopening on Monday as staff invoke legal rights over safety concerns

EVEN Swindon Primary School will not be reopening on Monday because teachers have invoked legal rights over safety fears.
The Rodbourne school s headteacher Alison Lowe wrote to parents and carers on Sunday afternoon to inform them of the decision and signpost advice about free school meals and remote learning equipment.
She said: The governors and I have had to come to the difficult decision to close.
A significant number of teaching staff, and at this point an unknown number of support staff, are following union advice and invoking their rights under section 44 of the employment at work act and stating that it is unsafe to be in school with a class of children. ....
