Loved ones say she had around 50 pairs of them for all occasions and wore them everywhere. She was killed in February 2020 when a tree fell onto a van that she was in, along with her husband. She is remembered as a Sevier County teacher who loved people, especially children. Sampson is also remembered for her faith and willingness to help anyone. ....

The Rod Run crowd takes up parking spaces for businesses along the Parkway, as they park classic cars facing the road for days in an area thatâs considered part of the stateâs right of way and therefore public parking, he noted. As chairman of the planning commission, which approves plans for events like the car shows, he said they need to do a better job of overseeing plans for the events. It wasnât clear Monday how the city could plan for the crowds that attend the Rod Run. Stephen Houser says he has accepted a position in the Atlanta area where he can be closer to family. His last day leading the Baldwin County library system is January 30th. “I’m sad to be leaving this library system and this community, but very proud of what we’ve accomplished here at TLLS during my tenure,” said Houser. “Since 2014, we’ve opened a new branch, expanded broadband internet access, and partnered with local schools and community organizations to increase access to literacy resources, all while receiving over $1 million dollars worth of federal, state, and private grants.” ....
